How much does it cost to import goods in to the UK? or where can i find out this information?
hi there ,
Does anyone know how much it costs to import goods from other countries in to the UK, and also what the different tax charges that would be applicable?
I am interested in potentially importing from Asia, do customs charge the weight of the shipment / crater, or other criteria?
if you have any links to good informative websites, or cheap shipment transportation i would be grateful

You will probably need an Import/Export license or a broker that has one (brokers are more expensive).
Remember that some asian products are not tax exempt and would probably cost you a bit more when importing. Be sure to ask your seller to provide the HTS codes of EACH product and check them with your customs broker before making the order.
Customs does not charge by size nor weight, but instead by item/product and it's quantity. Now, shipment companies do charge per size and/or weight, so there's no way avoiding it.
Exporters in Asia will normally have their own "contacts" for international shipping (they get commissions from this) so you might want to ask your product pricing aside shipment costs so you are able to check your own alternatives.
There are probably local 3PL companies in your area you might want to contact to get some quotes, or perhaps a known corp like Bax Global or FedEx.
