LOL One more for the 99Expedition...?
Ok, when prob first started, ex came to look at it and looked at the housing on the rear axle that the driveshaft goes into, where all the gears are. He took out a plug, and the oil was silvery with metal. Mechanic said it's normal to have that, but this was a lot of metallic slivers. Ex said rear end. So still a mechanic issue, then? What is that housing called, if that's what you think my problem is? lol may i e-mail you directly????
Like I said before, you need to find another mechanic. Metal in the differential gear oil is not normal. Something has failed inside the differential housing and has locked up the spider and axle gears. Again,I would look for a used one at a salvage yard because you are looking a big money to have that one rebuilt. But of course, I haven't seen it. Take it to a different garage and have them inspect the rear end.
