Need help with cycling, bottom brackets ?
Well I bought a Campagnolo Pista Track Cranks, they need a 111mm bottom bracket, and the only things on the market that have the same length are Phil Woods Magnesium Titanium Bottom bracket that goes for over 250.00, and another one that is made out of carbon fiber that goes for around 140.00. I have a Dura Ace Bottom bracket ( meant for track BB ) and the length is 109mm, is this compatible with the cranks ? Or do I specifically need a 111mm ?
Not only do you have to buy the correct spindle length, you also have to buy a bottom bracket with the correct taper. Shimano and Campagnolo bottom brackets use a different taper on the spindle. This article explains about spindle taper: http://sheldonbrown.com/bbtaper.html Your best choice is to buy a Campagnolo bottom bracket, or a Phil Wood bottom bracket made for Campagnolo cranks. The Campagnolo bottom bracket will probably cost less than the Phil Wood
