What happens if you loose the top/cap to your brake fluid reservoir?

I had my oil changed a couple of weeks ago and I've noticed that my car has started making a horrible noise when braking, when I checked under the hood I noticed that the company that did my oil change never replaced my cap to the oil reservoir. Could this have caused any damage; if so, what? The car is a 2004 Nissan Maxima.

Depends on the cap they forgot to put back....which is unclear from your question.

If they forgot to put back the brake fluid cap t(like you question states) then that can create a problem. The hydraulic brake system is pressurized....no cap, no pressure. I would recommend checking the brake fluid levels after the cap is replaced.

If they forgot replace the oil filler cap (which you seem to indicate in your description) then you run the risk of the motor oil being forced out the top of the motor. The result would be a messy engine bay. This can also create other issue depending what the oil gets onto.....for instance dumping motor oil on engine belts is not a good thing. Check your motor oil levels and top off accordingly.
