Good cooking pans?
Can anyone recommend a set of good pans? I have one which I bought in Woolworth's (UK). I call it my magic pan. I can cook anything in it and bung it in the dishwasher. It's like new again. It has a copper 'encapsulated' bottom (I'm told and shiny steel inside (not that brushed look) and a riveted handle (not screwed on). It has no manufacturer's name or anything on it. Really need a full set now. I am making do with a milk pan (magic pan!), frying pan and rubbishy non-stick thing.
Dear Lubvegonias, I'm with you. The two 2nd hand ones I've got are what I'd opt for. My husband tells me they're outdated, heavy and the enamel cracks (yes, it has a bit). You've given me confidence in demanding Le Creuset! Thanks.
Le Creuset They are very expensive, really heavy and last a lifetime. I think they are cast pots, I have a set that my sister gave to me because she bought a set of Jamie Oliver pots (another expensive investment). She says the ones she gave to me are far superior. They are the best pots I have ever had. I'm 50, raised a family of 5 and always cook (no ready meals here). My judge of a good pot is how it cooks rice, and these are amazing. Never burn or brown up at the sides due to poor heat distribution. Do a bit of research on the net, google them and see. You can buy them separately. The frying pans are brilliant too. You'll never need to buy pots again, believe me.
