How Long Can You Keep An LCD TV On For Without Overheating Or Other Damage?
I was told that if you "power cycle" the tv once or twice per which means unplugging it for 5 minutes then plugging it back in to cool and reset some components you can keep an lcd flatscreen tv on for days if not weeks at a time without damage. Is this true?
I also have a fan blowing directly into the rear of the tv to ciruclate cool air hopefully also keeping it cool.
The reason I am doing this is because I am having powering up issues with my samsung tv and I am worried that if I turn if off for an extended period of time (over 10 minutes) it wont turn back on. It may take a week to get a service tech out to my home to fix the tv so I want to be ensured that my tv wont be damaged or overheat by keeping it on until the serviceman comes.

As long as you have good air circulation around the TV, you can keep it on for as long as you want! The electrical components are designed to be on...not off!
The one thing the components are not designed for is to have the hot air created by the components to get trapped and accumulate! This will lead to them overheating and failing!
However, if you already have power supply issues with the TV, keeping it on for extended periods of time may cause it to completely fail and your TV will not work at all! But who knows!
