Selecting The best Bicycle
Most people assume picking the right bike is an easy task. They think that all they have to do is pick out which bicycle looks the prettiest to them and allows them to sit comfortably. They're not exactly right about that, though, because there are more things that need to be considered when choosing the perfect cycling bicycle. Cycling is increasing in popularity in many areas of life, such as sports, hobbies, transport etc. we now have many different bikes to choose from. It is popular in modern times to use a bike as a serious mode of transport. While many people cycle as a hobby. The following will explain how you find the best bike to suit your needs.
One way to choose the bike that fits you is to sit on the bike and see if your feet will rest flat on the floor, in case you need to stop yourself. There are certain professionals, though, who disagree with this concept. These people explain that the best way to pick a bike is to ensure there is a few inches between the ground and your feet, and you will be provided with a much more comfortable ride. If your feet are sitting flat on the ground while your butt is on the seat, this usually means that the seat is too close to the crossbar and will need to be adjusted for comfort. Your knees will cause interference as you are pedaling, because they will come up higher than they should, which is a result of your knees being bent when you are at rest with your feet down.
Always keep in mind that you want to test the bike before you buy it. Don't just jump on and jump off though, take a nice little ride for at least a few minutes. It's exactly the same as buying a used car; you would never find yourself buying a used car without taking it out for a ride.
Why wouldn't you do the same with a bicycle? It's even more important for you to do if you plan on spending a significant amount of money on it and will be using it a lot. Choose the bicycle that you know will fit you. There shouldn't be a problem in making the decision on whether or not the bike is the right size for you, but you should also keep in mind that it needs to fit your riding style as well. You would never want to ride a bicycle that was uncomfortable for you.
It is important that you allow adequate room between you and the crossbar. When you get a bike be sure to move the seat up a couple of inches from the crossbar. Make sure you can place both feet on the ground if need be. Which bike you get will greatly alter the clearance you will require. A good example is a touring bike, with these bikes you will only need around 1" difference. With a mountain bike however you will need some more, 3 inches should suffice.
As you can see, there are several things you should keep in mind when you decide on a bicycle that's right for you. It can become a bit overwhelming when going shopping for a bike and accessories because there is just so much to choose from. As long as you go prepared and know what you need and are looking for, you can shed some of that frustration and find the perfect bike.
