Have you been tasked to write the budget?

You will need to make a list.

Include the cost of permits for just the location you are shooting
You will have to call around for the rental fees for all the equipment you will be renting including the damage insurance for each piece or the package.

The good thing is that the production company you are working for should have a budget from the last shoot they did and you can usually break down the per day expenses from it if you have their shooting script as well

If this is for school, you are going to have to contact a production company and have them help you.

When I was in film school I got hold of the comptroller of one of the major prime time television production companies and used their budget work sheet to write the budget for the one hour program.

This project took me about two weeks of work which included interviews, visits to the set and the actual writing of the budget.

The thing is, I had to not only write the realistic budget, I had to document all my sources and names, contact numbers and job title from my interviews as well as turn in a tape of each interview.

I don't know how you are going to pull a decent grade with Yahoo Answers as your resource.

Your project will take you a minimum of 120 hours to complete if you get lucky right away and connect with the right people.

Some days you will get up to six hours of work accomplished, others only a couple. As you can see, this is NOT a small project .. almost like working for a production company in the real world, except you don't have to worry about raising all the money it will cost for the shoot and keeping the shoot on or under budget

NOTE: Remember at each expense has a line item number that refers back to the production companies budgeting accounting sheet. It will be important to list each expense with the correct line number. This took me over 20 hours to sort out, so give yourself some time so you can meet your deadlines
