WE want to do some raised bed gardening, How deep or rather how high?
We do not have a tillable garden spot. Too many roots, so we are thinking about some raised beds made from landscape timbers. We just want room for some tomatos, peppers and cucumbers. I have been thinking two'by eight' by three courses high. Will this do, or have you suggestions?
Thanks to all of you so much. I wish I could give you all ten points, but I will wait to decide. thanks again
It would do. Remember that one of the primary purposes of raised bed gardening is to put the work at a comfortable height. Roughly six inches short of waist level, for most gardeners. Make the beds somewhat narrow, say room for just two plants, so you don't have to climb up into your raised bed. I'd go with pressure-treated, though you may be worried about the chemicals leaching into the soil. Personally, I would not be concerned. You want this to last a good long time.
