120Hz frame rate conversion versus true 120Hz refresh rates on new LCD HDTV?
What am I going to notice different end-user between an LCD HDTV with 120Hz frame rate conversion as the Sharp Aquos LC-D82U with respect to a true HDTV LCD refresh rate of 120 Hz as the Samsung LN-T71F series? The refresh rate of 120 Hz is really new and available only in about 4 LCD HDTVs I've seen and I wonder if I should insist when my new TV has this feature. I was thinking of buying any of Sharp LC-D82U, Sony Bravia KDL-52W3000, Samsung LNT5265F or Toshiba Regza HL167, but after to investigate is that none of the four TVs have true 120Hz refresh rate. The Aquos has 120Hz frame rate conversion? one of these TVs will work or do I have to buy the Samsung or Sony with 120Hz refresh rates. For your information, this TV will be the home entertaintment center where I will be running for CPU desktop / internet connection via HDMI, Blu-Ray, HD DVD, Hi Def programming and Wii. Thanks much for taking the time to help
120 Hz is a relatively new technology. 120 Hz TVs use a variety of techniques to 120 Hz, the repetition of the frame, inserting a black frame insertion gray or motion estimation / motion compensation. 120 Hz help with the response time in LCD, so if you see some improvement, you will see it Jadda film and very quick motion. I think next year will further improve technology. For now, only left with 60 Hz TVs
