My Overview Flash Animation
Let's face it, the Web is a disappointment. That screen is tiny, narrow bandwidth, and uncertainty that a large number of people might not be able to see what you want. Everything to do with web design is downsizing. And if not enough bad having to make all static 72dpi graphics, animation any attempt to cost money getting into. What this means, at least until the screens large and fast Internet connections become the norm, it can not even do much with video. You can stream QuickTime, but without a leased line connection is terrible. Fortunately, you still have a range of options when it comes to graphic animation. Therefore, let's look at the main techniques and their drawbacks to get your site animation today.
In the beginning
In 1994, the guys behind the scenes in commercial Web development came with a very basic form of animation by sending consecutive live GIF images in the browser. Advertisers have been using this method to change ads advertising every 30 seconds or less without waiting for the user to reload the page. By sending a sequence of frames continuously, a primary of 3D animation effect was possible. The downside, of course, was that the graphical data constantly unloading on the line after the page is loaded. In a 14.4K modem, this means that the browser was always blinking and producing the hard drive, and frames were interspersed with blank spaces in each frame usually reloading. Shortly thereafter, the animated GIF was born, actually packing sequence of GIF images in a file that is downloaded once. The animated GIF has been a staple from simple banners and eye-catching effects since. Even sites that promote and display interfaces Shockwave Flash and animated GIFs because they are using Designers know it's animation technology support in all web browsers that lets you see the graphics at all. The limitations are well animated GIFs known, but we'll summarize anyway. GIF are bitmap images, so they have a fixed size, regardless of the browser window size. Can reach sizes very exciting if they include more than 10 tables or so, because the compression is based on the number of different colors in each image. They also tend to occur unevenly during the download, letting the user look at a seemingly inexplicable sequence running at a frame every five seconds the first time round. More Recently, designers have been able to produce basic path motion for static images with DHTML. Instead of running an animation in a fixed, let DHTML techniques to make a single photo and move it over the top of the page as a separate, floating. The beauty of this approach is that the animation so it begins almost immediately and the motion is perfectly smooth, without being based on frames. The chart also can have a transparent background as any GIF. The large drawback is that it does nothing terribly interesting. In this way, can come across as merely annoying or disgusting. And it is not really animation.
All in a Flash
While the World Wide Web Consortium squandered most of the 1990 taking into account some of the animation technologies appropriate Macromedia just go for it. The result was Flash, a playback system self-contained films containing vector graphics and text within a web page running independently or on a Web browser. The advantages of Flash approach are considerable and increasingly urgent as time passes. In the first case, the vector the nature of Flash movies can contain complex graphics and sequences in the confidence that will compress to almost unfeasibly file sizes small. In virtually all tests, from simple type of rollover and to complete the sequences, you'll find that Flash files are smaller than GIFs Animated and load faster than Java actions. The vectors also means that the film can resize themselves automatically to fit the screen browser, anti-aliasing on the fly. Better yet, Flash movies can incorporate events and react to user input, making it excellent for development custom web interfaces for the HTML page that could not wait to emulate. No less important, Flash may include embedded audio. And best of all from the point of a designer experienced eye, the films can be set to start running as soon as it starts the download without having to wait for completion. There are two main disadvantages to the format Flash. First, it requires the audience to have a plug-in of Flash Player installed. However, the credit of Macromedia, the Flash plug-in is a relatively small download and fast in just a couple hundred kilobytes. You should also note that Microsoft intends to dumping 3 most plug-ins which now includes Internet Explorer in the future - but Flash is the very notable exception. The second problem you may not care, but is that Flash is not really a standard in the same way as HTML, GIF, JPG, PNG or something like Java. Flash format is a 100 percent-owned property and license Macromedia other graphics software developers in a commercial basis. In practice, of course, no matter what Flash is not an officially recognized standard for more than 90 percent of Internet users and the plug-in installed: we talking hundreds of millions of people, ready to go with your animated content. Funny and sexy, but Flash is not a complete multimedia environment. At first, there was Flash of a draft to make animations Macromedia Shockwave, and developed for web playback, even more compact and accessible to people with slow modems. Shockwave is still very much alive and well and in many cases leaves Flash way back in terms of visual quality, interactivity and multifunctionality. There's even an animated film market animation and games with the shock wave and Shockmachine online players. Unlike Flash, however, the Shockwave plug-in is a long download and requires a process Install a little uncomfortable that includes leaving the Web browser at one point. The major limitation of Flash and Shockwave from the point of view is a graphic artist interactive features that really smart script-dependent. Or choose another word programming. If you are happy with scripts, In fact, if you have some experience of JavaScript, you'll find Flash is quite accessible, if not, you are limited to conventional animation tasks.
Hot new options
Inevitably, everyone is always on the lookout for a web animation system that does not expect the audience to locate and install third party plug-ins. These exist, but do so with solutions that are even more property to Flash, and usually protected by their creators with extreme caution ridiculous. An example of an alternative that does not require Flash plug-in is CyberSpot. For all purposes, a sequence CyberSpot looks a bit like a basic Flash movie with audio, but loads in an instant without any preamble. The problem with it is that CyberSpot is marketed as a personal service by the company that developed it. You commission to create a film of 30 seconds on their behalf, rather than creating their own using standard software packages. As you can imagine, this is of limited use except as an ad independent. The technology of hot everyone is talking at the time could compete with Flash at some point in the future is scalable vector graphics, or SVG. It started life as a concept proposed by Adobe to the World Wide Web Consortium and from the beginning, Adobe SVG proposed as an open standard with the hope that this will encourage its adoption. The idea behind SVG is to provide the Web with a standard vector graphics in the same way that GIF, JPG and PNG are the rules for map bits. But more than this, it is compatible with the animation and user interactivity. And besides, it is navigable, pan and zoom functions. This means you could use SVG in a number of different ways to suit the desired results, whether a detailed diagram can approach without losing definition (a street is a classic example), elements of the Web interface page or interactive animated film. SVG supports visual effects filters applied in real time and not only frames, and may include audio. A of the reasons why many people are interested in SVG is based on XML, which is generally regarded as the next step in Web functionality. XML support in a vector dynamic graphic or animation can be linked intelligently to all kinds of data, which in turn could radically alter the way Web content is delivered. As always, there are drawbacks. One is that SVG, though accepted as an official standard, it still requires a plug-in for the browser to display. Although Adobe hopes that one day, SVG support will be integrated into all browsers, for the immediate future is a discharge of more than 2Mb. Another limitation is that graphics packages are still precious few can export to SVG than Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop 9 6. And this leads to the biggest drawback of all: not many people are using SVG and yet most Internet users have never heard of him. All this certainly gives credence to the demand for Macromedia Flash is the standard web animation real, officially recognized or not. With a wide range of designer products can now be exported to Flash, including Illustrator and FreeHand, not to mention LiveMotion, Flash is where the action is less for the next two years at least, if not indefinitely.
