six pack retaining rings milk and plastic bottles are made of HDPE - high density polyethylene. They are basically the same thing and can be recycled as such, together. They are the type of recycling '2 '. zip lock bags are LLDPE - linear low density ppolyethylene. They are the type of recycling "4." The reason I say no to plastic bags is easier classification. They do not say you can not put in plastic bags, they are saying you can not put garbage in bags (and it is what someone have to open the bag in the recycling center). The short answer is yes, you can do, but you can be sure it will be "recycled" properly that way. Your best bet is to keep them apart, fill your recycling bin, and stay green!
